Hey medical/statistics twitter, is “numerically but not statistically separated from placebo” a fancy way of saying “it didn’t work, we’re trying to make you believe that a trend is a thing?”

Perhaps. I more inclined to think the lay intepretarion of ‘negative’ will be the impression of ‘not important’ or ‘bad’. Sometimes evidence of no effect (for the null) is very important/good.

I totally agree. My disdain was more about them trumping up their negative findings, which reflects bias. (BTW, did I say "trump?!)
