Editors tips to me: Always read the limitations in the discussion! Puts a lot of findings in context. And read the media release AFTER reading the study, and only then it's useful just for quotes.

The best advice I ever got was to ignore the rest of the paper and read the methods first. Then do it again. When you know ~exactly~ what they did, move on to the results. If you're good with all of that, you can read the intro and conclusion
