1/2: Not trying to come over as supportive of the anti-vax lot, but the comparison of Australia and “Europe” is a little unfair- one is a rich single state with a unified political and health system, the other is a continent with vast disparities in wealth and political control.

So, it is as you say very complex. The blog is a bit simplified for brevity: while a large portion of the reduction in vaccination rates can be traced to anti-vax sentiment (as seen recently in Italy) the factors you mention are certainly important as well

It is also perhaps unfair to compare Aus and Europe directly, except for the fact that until a few years ago Europe's measles rate was heading towards zero prior to the upsurge in vaccine denial
