The history of marijuana laws is also pretty informative. The History Channel did a documentary on it maybe five years ago. (I also joke that you never hear "hey, those two stoned idiots got into a bar brawl.")

The harms that we know of are relatively minor, but the harms too date are based off of dated data from the use of flower. When we start commercializing higher potency products the harms will become more prevalent and more dangerous.

If you're worried about the social costs of criminalization then wait until you see the social costs of legalization. When you legalize an addictive vice there will be huge costs associated with it. They're already adding up in Colorado and Oregon right now.
