1. Self-reported calorie intake is not a perfect measure of calorie intake, as the authors mention in the discussion 2. There were 2 measurements used in the study, saying "starvation for 25 years" is just silly 3. I'd suggest reading the study

I have read it. The fact remains that there are about at least 600 calories per day missing . That's a huge proportion of those analysed so who knows what real intake is ?
