Doctors like to bandy around business school terms like “efficiency” and “waste” but we aren’t too good at math. If you changed systems and documentation requirements to increase our efficiency by 50%, you could then fire 1/3rd of doctors. Who wants to get fired?
Have to say, this comes off as breathtakingly arrogant to me. Many people who work in medical admin do years of study dedicated to their specific field but doctors know better? Because they study economics? Because the human body is like a vast HR network?
