"Provocative language" is an odd way to put wildly misleading nonsense and outright untruths The number of people I've had argue - including you, I might add - that weightloss with dietary recommendations is impossible is a testament to the problems with the LCHF movement https://twitter.com/MikeCarrato/status/1025747100502503430 …

      Certainly more factually incorrect

The statement "you cannot lose weight using dietary recommendations" is very simply factually incorrect Saturated fats are a complex and debated macronutrient that can be very context dependent

A virtually identical proportion of the population fails long term on all diets. And I can hunt down the tweets if you'd like, it's been told to me many times. People usually backtrack when they realize, to be fair

Indeed. And I've written several long threads about the issues with the Virta study, but even without they had a 20% drop out rate in a highly intensive intervention at 12 months. Similar studies have had ~60% at 24 months and >80% at 5 years

It's not even a criticism of Virta per se, merely that dieting is an inherently flawed method of weightloss, ignoring as it does societal influences on weight gain

"Dieting", meaning low calorie dieting is an inherently flawed method. You are being quite nihilistic however & people mostly controlled weight without a "diet" until about 1980 so the problem is soluble if we accept that changes since then are the problem No genetic change since
