Honestly, that one I believe. It's useless for insurance companies anyway, they legally aren't allowed to discriminate based on pre-existing conditions and the like why would they open themselves up to such massive fines for no benefit?

I mean, they literally aren't allowed to deny you cover unless you can't pay. One of the (only) strengths of the Australian PHI system

They can deny you cover whenever you want. After my article came out, the CEO of my fund even called me to say that. He wasn't even apologetic.

Interesting. My understanding was that one of the few things the PHI Act specifically forbids is discriminating based on pre-existing conditions. Is that wrong?
