Annoying things about #MyHealthRecord:
a) fear-mongering: many of the objections I'm seeing now are absurd
b) ignorance of benefits: there are actually some really great things FOR THE INDIVIDUAL about MHR, but it's lost in a sea of angry yelling
Very true. I liked the point in your article, that it is small comfort if a doctor goes to prison if your life is ruined as a result anyway. But there is also an enormous amount of misinformation out there about how easy it is for health people to just ignore the law

Although I think the flipside of that is that health workers are often incredibly blase about sharing patient data and with MHRs that could very easily result in a lot of criminal charges

I'm particularly upset by
@AuDigitalHealth 's attempt to say that myHR is safer for privacy than paper. Logs != safety, logs are deterrents and for redress. Limiting access is safety and online records are more accessible (duh) - Show replies

I think really it is pretty easy. But thankfully, most of us are actually reasonably decent, ethical people. But making systems more resilient against wrongdoing is a better strategy than relying on people to do the right thing and threatening punishment.

You don't think doctors will be deterred by the penalties? I'm sure it won't stop every illegitimate access, but the penalties are pretty severe!
