After talking to a few doctors at work, I've seen another gap regarding #MyHealthRecord - health professionals don't realize how serious the data governance is
If nothing happens, a lot of doctors could be up on criminal charges

But i'm pretty sure it becomes legal to share patient info (deidentified) as soon as the doctor downloads the MHR info onto their system...

I don't think that's the full story... There's a section in there about doctor's owning the info once it's in their own health record system. Much like GPs now own data in their practice software. I don't have time to check tho.

No you're correct. Once downloaded, it can be used as any medical records, and is governed by the Privacy Act instead

Ah i see. Thanks! Yeah I think that's pretty important for doctors to know... that they can download the info and store it locally, legally!
