In case anyone's ever wondered how easy p-hacking is, I once spent an afternoon demonstrating that an arbitrarily assigned reference number was very significantly (p<0.0001) correlated with risk of diabetes, age, gender, eGFR, and length of hospital stay

It turns out that a lower reference number was associated with a lower hospital stay, clearly demonstrating that we should assign lower numbers to people in hospitals because that'll get them home quicker
