TBH, I did think that the ABC factcheck was a bit problematic at the start, but as a long read it's an excellent review. The first 2 paragraphs are just a bit sensationalist, then it calms down

A shame we can't say s'thing like... No vax: 230,000 get lab confirmed flu per 10million vaccinated With Vax: 90,000 per 10mill get flu. 140,000 fewer cases. Hospital cost savings alone would make that effective-& it's *that* word's use in Convo title that I take issue with

I'm not sure anyone looks great in this communications 'exchange'. And it does nothgin to clarify things for public I imagine. -10mil figure from vax dose in this https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/flu-vaccine-800-000-new-doses-ordered-to-meet-national-shortage-20180525-p4zhlz.html …

Thankfully ABC noted the other thnins where the vax is useful e.g. heart attacks, perhaps reducing transmission etc. I don't think these are captured by the Cochrane review.

Some of these comments were also much more helpful than focusing on statistics for such public-facing stories, IMO... .http://virologydownunder.com/flu-vaccination-and-effective-communication/ … .http://virologydownunder.com/the-forgotten-benefits-of-the-flu-vaccine/ …
