My guess is that the devil is in the detail: what do they mean by "rejected"? My wife and I were rejected by 3 of the 4 big banks, but we still got a mortgage with NAB - does that mean there is a 75% rejection rate or a 100% approval rate?

And just because lender(s) say no at one point, doesn't mean that a few months later they might not approve the loan. I think the truly interesting figure would be the % of PEOPLE, not loans, that are approved
