The main take-home I see from the US Supreme Court and Roe vs. Wade issue is that basing legal systems on a small council of unelected officials is problematic regardless of which way you vote
I mean, if one official being appointed >40 years after the decision was made can completely change the medical care across the country...that's a bit crazy

Republicans are over the moon right now, but my understanding is that Democrats could screw them over royally in a decade if there are a couple of heart attacks on the bench

It's just weird to me that the entire fabric of a nation gets decided by people who are, essentially, entirely separate from the electoral process

In Australia, this type of decision is voted on by parliament, all of whom are vulnerable to reelection issues and so accountable to the people The SCOTUS justices...aren't (as far as I'm aware). Once they're there, they can do whatever they want, really
