You don't need to read anyone's mind, that's what verbal and physical communication is for. This appears to be apologism for rape. In light of recent events, unbelievably poor taste

Like most of the others in this discussion, you are fettered to the uncritical position that consent is a simple little thing that exhibits no penumbra, only certainty. Is it fear that obstructs you from admitting that sometimes consent may be unclear to sex partners?

What an idiotic idea. Consent can be a complex issue, as with any human interaction. Which is why simple, verbal consent is necessary. Because otherwise you're raping someone

You cannot excuse rape by placing the burden of convincing men onto women. That is simple rape apologism. If you are unsure of consent, ask. Very, very simple

So women should remain silent regarding consent and we can safely assume all men are going to come to a satisfactory understanding (and the associated behaviours) of the matter themselves?

Do you honestly think that women are remaining silent about consent? If so, your scholarship is vastly shallower than I imagined. This obviously requires something of a cultural shift. That does not obviate the need for consent in sexual encounters, nor should it

If your scholarly opinion is that women are remaining silent in matters of consent, I would point you towards any feminist writers. @clementine_ford would be a good place to start
