If you follow the caveman diet, you too can live to the ripe old age of 24.

I agree to a point but isn’t it beyond doubt that a huge increase in the consumption of “bad sugar/carbs”, over 30 yrs has led to an entirely avoidable type 2 diabetes epidemic? I’d love your view on this, you’re right about so much. Best wishes John athttp://www.allencarr.com

Not at all. @kevinnbass explains it very well in this blog - if anything, the increase in obesity/T2DM is likely due to an increase in fat consumption https://medium.com/@kevinnbass/the-data-do-not-support-the-idea-that-the-low-fat-dietary-guidelines-caused-the-obesity-epidemic-687e382894ed …

The relevance of the "old way of eating" is that our genes are adjusted to that. Veering too much is dangerous. Of course, we have tons of advantages today but indeed need to respect our history.

Humans are adaptive experts. It’s why there are 7 billion of us, and growing, while every other living species is dying off. Our ancient ancestors ate how they did because there wasn’t a 7-11 around the corner, not because they somehow knew it was healthier.
