Also, I thought of our discussion yesterday when I saw this tweet, it's exactly the sort of thing you'd say if you'd only seen one modelling exercise and had very little understanding of economic theory and its complexities

That's very true, and I really see your point. Everyone assumes that economics is so complex that he must be right, but every second person is convinced that their dieting advice is sound despite their lack of education

The reality is that he probably got this false assumption from what is essentially a multi-stage model that was only as good as its flawed assumptions
