But then they moved on to the obvious issue - Chronic Lyme Disease and Post-Treatment Lyme Disease Syndrome And boy, were there some problems
Show this thread -
The main issue was that PTLDS was presented as an accepted fact, an explanation for the very-clearly-debunked chronic Lyme symptoms

The thing is, that's not true at all. The show presented the CDC's opinion as "PTLDS definitely exists, definitely caused by Lyme", for example Here's what the CDC actually says:pic.twitter.com/lzV6igIxNg

In other words, "Some people have said that PTLDS is a real thing, but no one is sure"
Show this thread -
This is NOT to say that people aren't suffering. The argument is around what the cause of these symptoms is

There were more problems with the episode. They talked about this study as definitive evidence that PTLDS exists, when actually all it shows is that if you ask a bunch of people complaining about symptoms how they feel, they score worse than healthy controlspic.twitter.com/gym7U6n1fa

The real issue was that after the first 2 minutes, they had not a single medical expert on the show. Which seems to me the worst kind of nonsense

@skepticalraptor has an excellent summation of Lyme/Chronic Lyme/PTLDS here: https://www.skepticalraptor.com/skepticalraptorblog.php/chronic-lyme-disease-scientific-evidence-supporting/#The_CDC_and_chronic_Lyme_disease_myths …Show this thread
