As I’ve said....this is not some year 10 project proposal, this is an investment in public health. The entire ADG cost 2.1milln. That’s cheap. As I also said Australia’s food-health is at stake. #WeCanDoBetter

Right, but that's not a justification really. What's the scientific impetus behind your argument? Why is this more important than anything else?

Right now we are using a set of “evidence-based guidelines to tell a population what to eat that are in toto GRADE C evidence” And, in response to FRCD we are defaulting to these GL as “the way forward”. If you’re comfortable with that gid, great. I am not. #WeCanDoBetter

I mean, still totally off topic. Let me rephrase: why are you asking to exclude any industry-funded research from any evidence reviews? If anything, this would likely lower the quality of the review!

That’s what we need to know.

Um, that's not really answering my question. Saying "all industry-funded research is bad" and then justifying it by saying "it's not rocket science" doesn't seem like an evidence-based approach!

I answered. I said - that’s what we need to know - what would the body of evidence look like if we took out industry funded research? Another way to look at it is, if we only accepted Level A & B what would that look like?

Bc, as you know, final recommendations, and pictures of food on a plate, are not fine printed with level of evidence. The public trusts we’ve extended our questioning to put “clean science” forward.

But, as I've said, there are many sources of bias. Excluding one based on "it's not rocket science" doesn't really make sense Also, I imagine there are many Level A industry-funded studies. That's pretty much the point I'm making here

In fact, I'd imagine that guidelines based only on A and B evidence would be far more weighted towards industry, because these RCTs are expensive and often run by industry bodies

And I’m simply asking for the evidence - we can keep hypothesizing - I’m saying - if we are going to use ADG, please, just have a look. Really don’t know why as an epi person you are putting up barriers?

As I’ve said, you can stay on the “what we’ve been doing is solid and right” but I’m on the other train.
