If I were a member of the public in Australia (which I am) I would be outraged to know how much "vested interest" has gone into our national food guidelines. Especially under these circumstances where our collective public food-health policies have not met their objective!https://twitter.com/rosestant70/status/1004562511205560321 …
I'd prefer the evidence be evaluated using established methodologies (I.e. Cochrane risk of bias) personally. Using a single criteria would undoubtedly reduce the reliability and validity of the results of any evidence review

We aren't talking about some decisions about which colour dress matched shoes!! We are talking about a set of guidelines that are THE DOMINANT benchmark for legislation, policy, practice, and what we feed our older people in institutions!!

The Public are asking us to clean it up! They are right to do so, and to expect more of the people applying these methodologies. Why can't we just "have a look at what recommendations are left when we pull out research with vested interests"??

as a first step. It will be time consuming thought bc the "spreadsheet" of evidence did not identify "industry funded" as yes/no.
