No one should be shamed/stigmatized for being fat However, using this as an argument against obesity as a serious risk factor for chronic disease is problematic

Agree - some people can achieve health regardless of body size but not everyone. How do we help those to realise that obesity can make diabetes or CVD worse? Without being patronising?

How to communicate this to individuals? Very hard My personal experience was that I never needed the risks explained - I *knew* that being fat was unhealthy - it was more about the pragmatic, everyday benefits like walking up stairs without being out of breath that sold me
