I'm a largely asymptomatic coeliac so my response is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ . It's a terrible response I know because, bowel cancer.

I'm strict with the gf thing, but it's hard to overly scrutinise a gf restaurant when u don't get sick easily. If I were to drink beer/ eat bread, yes I'd be super unwell. But a slice of gf bread cooked in a toaster used for normal bread? I don't challenge it as i don't feel it.

Yeah wife is very similar. She rarely gets sick unless there's a lot of gluten in the food, so it's hard to tell if a restaurant has screwed up!

The thing we need to remember i guess is we might not *feel* sick but we are doing damage :/ i hate being fussy at restaurants though.

Me too! This is why we eat mostly at vietnamese/Indian/mexican places, because most food there is gluten free by default

We got a free delivery of non-gf egg salad sandwiches at the Melb bureau the other week. Egg salad is my favourite and I was too broke to buy lunch.... it ... did not end well for me.
