To be clear: If a fellow Hispanic wants to call him/herself "Latinx" — have at it. I think it's unnecessary, but that's your right.

I can’t blame Amanpour for using the term. She was interviewing Paola Ramos whose book is about Latinx. Using the term was unavoidable. However, the definition Ramos gave for Latinx makes me think people identifying as Latinx are setting up their own community apart from Latinos.
