Out in today: "Declining CO₂ price paths" It introduces EZ Climate, a climate-economy model financial economists would recognize. It's joint with two stellar ones: Columbia's Kent Daniel & ex top Goldman Sachs risk manager .

Feels like we’re going to see American industrial policy become more popular, basically no matter what else happens. The only question is whether the US embraces it on climate and zero-carbon technology in time.

It's dangerous to demand high levels of uncertainty reduction before we act to reduce climate risk.

  6. For a bit more context: decidedly a good-news-potentially-really-really-bad-news kind of juxtaposition: And yes, it's precisely those known unknowns (and, of course, the potential for unknown unknowns) that makes this truly frightening.

How close are we to taking over ? Not very. are much closer. Given that >70% of our trips are under 30 miles, the policy focus on EVs baffles me. This figure is coming out in a book soon, joint work with B Clinton and K Metaxoglou.

A reminder of EIA's track record on predicting coal. US coal production is likely to fall below 600 million tons this year -- literally off the charts.

I think climate tech is emblematic of something slightly different. Yes, there’s a real focus on CLIMATE this time. In a real and called out way, recognizing that climate might be a shock (h/t ) to the economy way more than expected. 3/

Pledging to plant a trillion trees was all the rage at Davos; this is a good start, but lets not pretend that its a replacement for reducing emissions. Here is what a pathway to limiting warming below 2C looks like with and without planting a trillion trees: 1/2

Dear conservatives who still doubt global warming: Even the oil majors knew it is real, it was serious, and needs ambitious policy responses. And they confessed to it internally a long, long time ago. Per , they have skin the game. You don't.

The cost delta between 1-10 kW rooftop solar PV projects in the US (still ~$3-5/W in 2019 according to latest DOE report ) and Europe (~€1.1-1.5/W) is just stunning! And a real indictment or US policy, regulatory & market environment for distributed solar.
