    Unity. On the 20th anniversary of 9/11 in Shanksville we commemorated the heroes of flight 93, among them Christian Adams from Germany. President Biden und the First Lady paid their respects; Vice President Harris and former President Bush called for unity.

    After 9/11, the crew of the German ship Lütjens passed the American ships USS Winston S. Churchill and USS Gonzalez. The Germans manned the rails, flew an American flag at half-mast, and held a sign: "We stand by you". "There was not a dry eye on the bridge," wrote an officer.

    Foreign Minister and have met today at Ramstein Air Base to discuss the path forward in Afghanistan. Ramstein has played a key role in the evacuation mission and Germany and the USA are working together as close allies to fly people out of the country.

    A total of 18,700 evacuees from Afghanistan have arrived at the US Ramstein Air Base in south-western Germany on some 76 military transport flights, according to a spokesperson for the base on Friday. More than 4,100 evacuees had already travelled on to the US.

    In today's despicable terrorist attacks at Kabul airport innocent people and 12 US Service Members were killed. 15 US Service Members were wounded. The German Government condemns these attacks in the strongest possible terms. Our condolences go to the families of all the victims.
