Fake news! The story is a lie from start to finish. The ‘senior sources‘ within the Party are people attempting to position themselves for the leadership contest when my term ends. No one should be UKIP leader without years of loyalty & work behind them.https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/8106836/tommy-robinson-secretly-lead-ukip/ …

The Sun's fabricated story will be cited as a credible source of info for months for years to come by the left etc. though.

That’s one of the reasons why I don’t read newspapers anymore. They are propaganda meant to make you believe certain things not to inform you.

Why are you so keen for Robinson to be granted membership to UKIP in contravention to party rules? Not just to be an ordinary member, surely not. Pull the other one Gérard.

If Mr R were ever to be a member I have said that would only be a vote of all the members.

Seems silly to have a vote on bending the rules for one individual. If the rules aren't fit for purpose they should be changed. I know other good people who are excluded from UKIP membership for membership of some organisation in the distant past. Lift the ban for them too

The rule is not in place because of the people, it is there to help prevent people from claiming that UKIP is a "far-right" party.

Disagree, it never really worked in term of MSM, how many times Farage had to argue about UKIP not being racist or xenophobic (replaced now by "far-right"? If anything it was to divide similarly thinking people from leaving BNP, EDL etc. and join UKIP.

It may not have worked well but that was the intention of the rule because if former BNP or EDL members started joining UKIP the media would definitely see it as evidence that they were a "far-right" party.

The MSM use that line regardless of any evidence either way. No point trying to pander to them

It also prevents entryism from genuine members of the far right organisations attempting to infiltrate the party. They did similar with the EDL back in the day and look how that ended up.

I learnt something today about Tommy Robinson = he went to a Grammar school & got 6 straight A's ... one of them in Maths. NOW, if he had been to Eton, he'd be lauded !

Clarence: If everyone who had brushes with the law were to be disqualified from puplic life who would be left? Yes TR has had a past, some of his 'convictions' were b/c of his establishment challenging. But instead of hiding behind those argue his message instead.
