I acknowledge that it is utterly petty, but if you tweet about winning an Atlantis ticket, I'm immediately unfollowing you. I simply do not have the maturity level to feel happy for you.

The cultural impact of a Star is Burns is incredible considering it was viewed at the time as a desperate crossover publicity stunt. Matt Groening even tried to get it pulled before airing.

I worked at my local pizza joint in high school and on break from college. Probably best job I ever had. But by the time I moved on they couldn't get any high schoolers to take the job anymore. When I started, most of the drivers were teens. Five years later none were.

Update: @TheAtlantisDC says it received more than 520,000 requests for tickets for its first 44 shows, with less than 20,000 total tickets to distribute. Winners will be notified on a rolling basis, with the process expected to be finished on Thursday. Good luck! twitter.com/fritzhahn/stat…

Totally insane that Arsenal could have a season it’s having and *still* possibly get nipped at the end by City. I know I’m supposed to take joy in that, but it just doesn’t seem fair. The way they’re playing, they deserve the title.

There is simply no argument that makes any logical sense that says historic preservation laws should dictate the style of a sculpture in a historic district. And normally the authorities agree. Look at these two sculptures OGB has approved:

The mistake Martin is making here is that he thinks people are being forthright when they talk about historic preservation but what they really think is that the preservation laws exist like an HOA to enforce their own personal aesthetic preferences.

Since the Old Georgetown Board said the Transformers sculptures aren't compatible with Georgetown's historic aesthetic, I am curious: What if the owner had two new Transformers sculptures made, but in traditional classical stone form? Would those pass muster?
