Unity is a silly American concept. We don’t agree and we don’t have to. Democracy was invented in part to deal with that fact.

Compromise is interwoven into American politics more than democracy to deal with that. It’s not silly at all. Sometimes it worked (Bill of Rights, Great Compromise), sometimes it didn’t(3/5 Compromise, Missouri Compromise). But that’s the basis of unity.

Nothing would say "a government of laws, not men" louder than seeing the DOJ also prosecute, the courts convict, and former president Trump shipped off to federal prison where he rightfully belongs.
