  1. Incidentally, there are MASSIVE problems with coconut products, which are worse in terms of species loss even than palm oil, as they hammer the endemic wildlife on small islands. We need to avoid them too.

  3. The impacts of dairy include: Silage cut up to 4x a year, which means fields entirely hostile to other life forms. Maize, that strips the soil from the land. Dung that's a massive cause of river pollution. Greenhouse gases and land use much higher than from non-dairy milks.

  4. What all this talk of “unleashing our potential” and “supercharging our economy” and “winning the global race” means is accelerating towards the cliff edge of climate breakdown.

  5. They said it would never happen. But it's happening at great speed. We're getting out of dairy, one of the most destructive forces on the planet.

If you read 's article about how the deal to sell the land from beneath the community's feet was done, you might like to message to tell them how you feel about it. Is the worth the paper it's written on?

  8. The emphasis on litter and plastic is telling. It represents a shift of responsibility from industry to consumers. Which is just as industry wants it, and the media tells it. (I'm not saying plastic is unimportant. It is important. But it's just about the only story we know).

  9. This chart, from the report, reveals how badly informed we are about the state of our rivers. It shows what people *think* are the major causes of river pollution. In reality, it's 1. Farming. 2. The water industry (sewage) 3. Other industry.

"None of the world's major economies - including the entire G20 - have a climate plan that meets their obligations under the 2015 Paris Agreement" This is of course excluding huge parts of our emissions and aspect of equity. Not even then are we on track.

Only one country – the Gambia – is taking climate action in line with 1.5C, says US, EU, DE, JP "insufficient" CN, IN, AU "highly insufficient" Notably, the UK's target is "1.5C compatible", but it lacks policies to match the ambition

I'm listening to Conservative MPs in the Universal Credit debate – the handful that are here – and they keep asking how to fund the £20-per-week Universal Credit uplift. It’s very simple: Tax the rich.
