No, Mathematica, when I told you to rotate my polygon that is *not* what I meant! 😆 (Must be how a computer tells a …)

Poles of a complex function can be nicely visualized as vector field singularities—but are rarely drawn that way (try Google images!). In computer graphics, vector field singularities can be thought of as poles and zeros of complex functions—but are rarely understood that way!

Since I keep getting questions about the cotan formula for tet meshes, I wrote up a note about the n-dimensional cotan formula (including a nice expression for tet meshes). Hopefully this saves me infinitely many emails for n ≥ 4.

My SIGGRAPH talk on The Vector Heat Method is now online! We show how to efficiently compute parallel transport w/ short-time heat flow. This new tool opens up lots of applications, like velocity extension, local parameterizations, and means on surfaces.

  9. Mark Gillespie knitted this beautiful—and topologically accurate—rendition of the logo: a torus immersion in a nonstandard regular homotopy class. More of Mark’s work here:

My favorite SIGGRAPH 2019 presentation was "Navigating Intrinsic Triangulations" . Intrinsic triangulations are an initially confusing concept. This paper does a _great_ job explaining them and then shows how to do *intrinsic* refinement.

Spent my plane ride adding curve networks to 😃 Visualize networks of lines in 3D (or 2D) space, as well as scalar and vector data along those lines! Go check it out:
