Gillian was always a delight to deal with as a library client, and then as one of our MCC Library Volunteers. She was a meticulous researcher, but modest and always willing to share and discuss research. Will be very much missed
Very sad to hear of the death last week of Gillian Hibbins. This essay in the 2008 book celebrating 150 years of Australian football defined her modus opera di: evidence before conjecture…RIP

Pure gold. Rare Haydn Bunton Recording Rediscovered | National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. PLUS vision of Bunton and Bruce Andrew at the old Lakeside Oval and Brunswick Street. Alleluia.
Yes, sad loss … Jimmy and I go back almost 50 years. He was a Bloods tragic and all of us in football are indebted to him and Russell Holmesby for the Encyclopaedia of AFL footballers … all except those blokes who had lied about playing league footy or their number of games.
I always had a love for writing and #JimMain was sports editor of The Australian for more than 10 years.. he gave me a chance to pursue that passion and also at Inside Football. The Encyclopaedia of AFL Footballers with Russell Holmesby was a must.
RIP Jim
Sad to hear of the passing of Jim Main - a man who was passionate about all sports, the Swans, history, Australia's military service and journalism. Vale Jim.
Sad to hear of the death of Jim Main, one of the true greats of the craft of journalism in so many of its forms. The book he did for us after his beloved Swans’ premiership breakthrough in 2005 was a masterpiece in describing how a destitute club became a benchmark. RIP Jimmy.
Jimmy was one of a kind. Good, old-fashioned news hound. Uncompromising.
I don’t think the airline employee who stuffed up his ticket to Newcastle was ever the same! Farewell Jimmy Main.

Big yr for me with 3 books hitting the shelves📚🧑💻Here's my 2nd masterpiece for '22, 3-PEAT, the story of HFC's recent golden era. I added a few stories along with more talented writers
At 6.45am this morning I scattered my father‘s ashes on the 18th green of the Old Course. 12 hours later an Australian wins The Open. Cam Smith, Champion Golfer of the Year. Champagne golf.
Well done to Rob Hess, Matthew Nicholson, Greg De Moore & Bob Stewart cited in Australian Society for Sports History awards for AUSTRALIA’S GAME. The citation noted: “an overarching, comprehensive, coherent & extremely readable grand narrative of Australian football & the AFL”
Sad to hear of the sudden death of Ray Gunston. One of the great football & business administrators. I first worked with Ray during the startup of Tatts Tipstar. This pic was moments after his horse Fireburn won the Slipper. Next day at the footy he was just as excited. Vale Ray
Pumped to hear that A FOOTBALL GENIUS is sitting No. 2 for top-selling sports books at Dymocks, behind only Shane Warne's autobiography 🥳📓🙏

I’m nearly finished reading a Football Genius so much in it about Huddo I never knew and I’ve got great memories of watching him play and it’s blown me away Dan’s research on Huddo, the Hawks and more is astounding, I’m on a mission to finish it 😂
