Do you know inland and coastal wetlands only consist of <4% global biome area? Wetlands help water storage which is essential to living creatures. Muddy soil holds more water than sand and vegetation aids to store water. Join on Feb2 for the values of wetlands!

Flax weevils are only found on rodent free islands and a few alpine locations where rodents are in low numbers. Being large and flightless makes them vunerable

What a shockingly misguided action to systemically introduce exotic fish to our waterways.

Urban Landscaping is fine in it's way, but not to be confused with indigenous biodiversity concepts, time or money.

We have a new project underway "Project Window Strike" to capture data on window strikes from around NZ and help ascertain the effectiveness of bird strike mitigation approaches for NZ conditions and to help prevent unnecessary harm to our native birds.

It's actually a rare typo by (I think) As per Auckland Zoos tweet below, her name is Toiora (Survivor) not Toiroa.

Great to see this root advice. I have seen so many trees dead/blown over at 5-10 years from pot bound rootball that can't spread. <<If the roots are evenly spread, place plants straight into planting hole (or cut the root ball with a knife down the length of the roots)>>

A couple of imminent alpine rock wren fledglings in their rocky nest hole high on the Haast Range, NZ. Luckily, neither mice, rats nor mustelids gobbled these ones :) Photo: Amanda Sanders (DOC)
