I'm just now realizing from these comments that the GOP has successfully indoctrinated the masses into believing that Saudi Arabia... is a US ally. They're not, FYI. Russia & China are allies with Saudi Arabia. Oil/trade does not an ally make. state.gov/countries-of-p

It's amazing how much false information has been posted by other people on this thread. "Ally" is defined by the US Government. Saudi Arabia is not an ally. Having diplomatic relations doesn't make us allies. Trading doesn't make us allies. Military bases don't make us allies

The USA has diplomatic relations with 189/195 UN Nations. We have military bases in 85/195 nations. We maintained a base in Cuba for decades while severing diplomatic relations. We only recognize 18 non-NATO nations as allies. Saudi Arabia is listed as a Nation of Concern.
