@gfriedma do a study which demonstrated universal healthcare will save our residents $9 billion annually. If you’re not familiar with Dr Friedman, he has completed studies for many states as well as the national Medicare for all bill. (1/2)
In WA, we have 14 billionaires who pay ZERO income tax & the most regressive tax system in the US. Plus 522,000 (pre-Covid) ppl who had no healthcare coverage. Using capital gains & other funding sources, we can have billionaires pay their share and cover all Washingtonians.

Suppose this gets passed & a lot of people flock to the State? At a certain point the State CAN go bankrupt. The Fed Gov can NEVER go bankrupt. I am in pretty constant contact with a bunch of progressive PHD economists. None are advocating 4 St to St approach.

How could we drop the price to begin with by not having policies that inflate the cost? Then, you likely wouldn’t need to raise taxes in order to still overpay for care that should be relatively cheap.

The ACA attempted to do this, it didn't work. Also you're raising taxes to pay less than people are already paying in premiums and other costs so it's a net reduction in costs
