So my 19 year old is refusing to vote. That means he’s literally refusing to sit down, with his mother and me, and spend 6 minutes filling out his ballot. Why? Some dumb shit about not being part of the system.

A few things: I don’t as a rule discuss my parenting, the efficacy of voting, or the futility of reform, with total strangers. Especially when you strafe me with smug superiority. You will be blocked. Venting is not an invitation for unsolicited advice.

Had my first post midterms discussion about voting with the teenager. His ideas about non-voting are pretty irrational which is why I passed on your well meaning suggestions that I show him this or that video.

I laid out what was achieved this week by people, including his generation, showing up. Hopefully I planted a seed. He seemed to listen. I'm not very optimistic.
