Actively tried to do Focusing on my jaw for an hour, but I just couldn't really get anywhere. No handle I tried on, fit the felt sense; and I couldn't describe the felt sense well at all, no matter how long I tried. Barely any sense of, "Yes, this word is closer." What gives?

I have never really got the hang of Focusing on purely physical symptoms. It's one of those things that people tell me is "supposed" to work but that I find suspicious.

I start from a problem/emotion/concept/etc and work outwards from there. So I mean I pay attention to the physical experience of my body, but if there's a more physical symptom as a starting point it's hard for me to make useful progress on it.

Like, my knee hurts right now (because I fell over earlier). I could Focus on that I suppose but there's no real complex felt sense associated with that it just hurts. I'd find Focusing on a tense jaw similar to that.

The thing that's bothering me is that no matter what other things I try around anger (attitude-wise, intellectually, emotionally, physical expession) or my jaw (physio), this physical sensation just seems to persist, so I'm not sure what to do with it. Do you have any ideas?

Perhaps it's not anger related, so no matter how much anger you look at you won't find it?
