Actively tried to do Focusing on my jaw for an hour, but I just couldn't really get anywhere. No handle I tried on, fit the felt sense; and I couldn't describe the felt sense well at all, no matter how long I tried. Barely any sense of, "Yes, this word is closer." What gives?

same here, albeit my skills are probably cruder like, meditating on an old childhood trauma makes me notice how tense my shoulders are, or thinking about how I'm going to die makes me aware of a massive pit in my chest

I think in theory it's possible to reverse-engineer this, like if you just concentrate on one bodily sensation long enough your intuition will kick in and tell you the corresponding emotion but ime it's inefficient if that's what you're using it for

Hmm, right. Hmm
Well, I do have a guess as to what my tense jaw is about -- namely that it's a way for my body to ensure I don't get loud and/or angry -- but I was hoping Focusing might help me verify or falsify that theory. -
The thing that's bothering me is that no matter what other things I try around anger (attitude-wise, intellectually, emotionally, physical expession) or my jaw (physio), this physical sensation just seems to persist, so I'm not sure what to do with it. Do you have any ideas?
