"Genie, why are you on Twitter so much?" Well because I get super depressed if I don't get enough interaction with people and there's a pandemic on so I'm not really getting enough of that in person. Twitter is an almost acceptable substitute.

When you're online, you can choose to have a break any time. Maybe that's it?

It's certainly easier to get enough contact online, but I think it's a bit like empty calories: Easier but not enough. I definitely need more in person interaction than I'm getting I think. (I'm not all alone or anything - I live near my partners - but it's not quite enough)

I had a similar experience of thinking I'm an introvert and realizing I'm not. I wonder how many people are tricked into the label by social anxiety. I wonder if the label is even real...
-
The extra annoying thing is I fixed my social anxiety about two months before the pandemic locked everything down. Was really looking forward to taking advantage of that.

Learned when I was, what, 25? that I was an extrovert. It was a revelation but also like... huh. I guess so. This makes sense.
