Is the "life as a game" framing useful for you? Why/why not?

Life cannot be a game because it happens regardless of whether you consent to it. It contains a lot of minigames as interesting distractions from the main quest though

Jordan Peterson has a line that say, "There's a game and there's a set of meta games - i.e to play the game in a way that makes it more likely you'll be invited again."

I like Bernard Suits's definition of game as "a voluntary attempt to overcome unnecessary obstacles". In this sense the metagames you describe are not games because they're not voluntary and the obstacles are not unnecessary. (Other senses may also be valid of course)

I confess I have never read the original source. Let me know if you read it and it's good!
