In part I think what's hard about that (for me at least) is the feeling that you tried something and you *still* can't cross it off your tried list, there's so many approaches and ways you could have tried it, it's daunting. Figuring things out for real is work work work.
Yeah, but this is unfortunately just true. Figuring out what is effective *is* work.
