Took me two relationships before I was finally able to *kind of* do this in my third, and I still have a ways to go
Have recently been in a safe environment for expressing them to people tho, and that's been helping me feel more confident in them surprisingly quickly!
Yeah. I'm able to do it in my current relationship, which is great, but it's taken us most of two years to get to the point where it's viable. Partly because it 100% would not have been safe in my last relationship, which made me a bit gunshy.

Mostly just lots of incremental progress in this direction over a long period of time, enabled by being really good at relationship communication, them spending a lot of time helping me feel safe, and me working on dealing with a whole pile of my emotional baggage.
