Finding myself vaguely disappointed in the replies to "What do you like about being a man?" thread and I'm not quite clear on why.

i don't feel like i personally tie very many characteristics to "maleness". sat and stared at your question just now and couldn't think of anything that fit. gender just doesn't feel significant in my life on a conceptual level.

I'm writing an amorphous, directionless paper on what a transcendental/divine masculine looks like (as a converse to the divine feminine) and if either of you ever wanna talk about this it might be generative! so far i'm using theology, tala madani's art, john berryman's poetry..

Have you read Iron John by Bly? I've failed to get on very well with it, but it's definitely this sort of thing. Happy to help, but https://twitter.com/GeniesLoki/status/1322219291610066946 … is about my level of divinity clue

Tbh i think most of the best takes are generated from that place. I’ll take a look at the book! If it’s hard to engage with that’s probably symptomatic of the inability to identify a transcendent masculinity which could be interesting to look at at least

I think my main complaints with it were that: 1) I didn't really get along with the style. 2) It seemed very centred on a specific era in the US, and I found a lot of the described life experiences fairly unrelatable. Has some good points too though. I'll probably finish it.
