Finding myself vaguely disappointed in the replies to "What do you like about being a man?" thread and I'm not quite clear on why.

Yeah. I can't quite tell whether this is an artefact of how I asked the question or whether people don't actually believe this. Particularly disappointed by all the answers which are coded "I have male privilege" rather than identifying positive masculine-coded behaviours.

(Partly because it suggests that if women were given the free choice they would behave exactly like men do now and... no? I'm almost 100% sure this is not true. They would be more similar in some ways and more different in others and both things would be good)

the thing is men could behave differently from women but they could feel mostly neutral about it

I thought I knew what you were going for but I think this tweet made it clearer than the original one. It's hard to celebrate good things about X while still thinking that non-X people should be able to have them too if they want -- very worthwhile but hard to express IME.
