I was too! Where are all the "dudes rock" dudes?

Yeah. I can't quite tell whether this is an artefact of how I asked the question or whether people don't actually believe this. Particularly disappointed by all the answers which are coded "I have male privilege" rather than identifying positive masculine-coded behaviours.

There’s no reason to be a man in today’s western society, why is this surprising?

men on twitter are not 'archetypical' men

lol i love those kinds of questions because they always expose that gender doesn't really make sense as more than a stereotype
-
It doesn't, but the stereotype is generally based on real differences in norms even if any given person conforms to those norms well or badly.

i don't feel like i personally tie very many characteristics to "maleness". sat and stared at your question just now and couldn't think of anything that fit. gender just doesn't feel significant in my life on a conceptual level.
-
(it's not that maleness is irrelevant in my life, so much as that i never learnt to associate many qualities with it, besides certain basic stereotypes which seem mostly neutral)
