I'm glad you agree that's inappropriate. I hear a lot of men say they "can't hit on women anywhere anymore!" if they're asked not to hit on women on the bus or grocery shopping or at work. So it's nice to have an easy response like "download Tinder".
Yeah, my objection isn't that it's hard to hit on people, my objection is that online dating seems a particularly dysfunctional way to find potential partners and limits the existence of better options. Hitting on random strangers isn't a better option.

Honestly I'm rubbish at hitting on people even at events where it's explicitly encouraged.
