I see a lot of talk here about Jung. What other psychology big guns have y'all read? E.g. any Carl Rogers fans?

I hated On Becoming A Person and haven't really tried anything else by him. I'm not sure any of the people I've read and liked count as big guns TBH. The best things I've read are all niche and/or secondary texts.

I haven't read that, but I've been wanting to. What'd you hate about it?

Did the all too common thing of over focusing on the author over the subject. Also I dislike the style he's advocating for, which seemed a bit too "the personal relationship between the therapist and the client is what's important and beyond that it hardly matters what you do".

Was there something about him/his background/personality/vibe/etc that you didn't like? Do you disagree with the style he seemed to be advocating or is it more like, "Sure that's a necessary starting point, but then what?"

Hmm vibe-wise he seemed very impressed with himself? Like the sort of impressed that has one spouting banalities as wisdom. I think I low-key disagree with the style he advocates for (useful for many but I dislike it myself) but disagree hard with the idea that it's sufficient.
