My main way of talking about felt sense experiences is through flavour analogies (makes sense when you consider the dual meanings of the word "taste")

Yeah, a lot of authors of nonfiction write about their feelings in quite intimate detail. Therapy books do this a lot, but it's part of the broader mainstream. Semi-autobiographical essays are quite common and can be quite intimate.
