Curious to see responses to this, given that I am a coach. Also curious why you may have a not positive impression of it.

I'm trying to figure this out myself. I think I've got a strong "coaching = snake oil" association that I don't necessarily officially endorse? Feels like 90% of coaches are charlatans and that I don't know how to figure out who the remaining 10% are?

It's Impossible for me to overstate the value that my coaches have provided me. Likely they saved me. They're like angels. They care more for you than you do for yourself. A trainer might try your phone when you don't show up. A coach drives to your house and knock on your door.

Coaches take people at their most raw and endeavor to see the best in them, the best for them, and their true potential, not to achieve things, but of who they can become by striving to do so. It's fucking sacred.

Coaches bring out the you in you that you didn't know you had

also interested i'm the kind of person who would be reluctant to pay for a coach or a therapist etc because it feels like a very hard thing to do in a way that's helpful, and an easy thing to do mediocre-ly

i don't have experience with coaching, but when i imagine a coach, i imagine them telling me things that i kinda already know (i know this is possibly stupid of me)
