What if the reason why women do most of the emotional labour is that we don't count it as emotional labour when men do it? (I was surprisingly reluctant to tweet this even on alt)

People absolutely pay unlicensed "therapists", life coaches, etc to do what (stereotypically female) friends do ie provide emotional support, without the other things like CBT, etc
TBH I don't think this is an accurate depiction of either what a good life coach does or the genuine gendering of friends helping each other (I agree that it matches the stereotypes, but this conversation started with a giant thread about why those stereotypes were misleading!)
