What if the reason why women do most of the emotional labour is that we don't count it as emotional labour when men do it? (I was surprisingly reluctant to tweet this even on alt)

I also think that the labor part of it means that it is an unnatural response and requires effort to perform. In which case, I’m uncertain as to why we would go about it in the first place. Maybe that’s where social expectations come into place.
I mean, we do a *lot* of things that take effort to perform, because that's how we achieve the results we want. This seems like a weird conclusion.
